ev++ is now bringing our popular online variance simulator to your desktop.

The variance simulator is a tool that allows you to enter your winrate and standard deviation and then run a simulation to discover what kind of swings you can expect over a given number of hands.

The downloadable version will allow you to run a larger number of hands and trials, then the online version and you can easily save the resulting graphs. The large link below will download a windows installer, for Mac or Linux you'll have to download the source code from farther down the page.

For those that are interested the source code for the app is also included with the installer and is available on it's own by clicking here. The code is written in python (requires wxPython, numpy & matplotlib) and should run on Windows, Mac & Linux.

Included with the source are a standalone version that you can import and run from a python command prompt, as well as the full wxPython GUI version. In order to run the GUI version you need to compile the file find_downswings.c into a dll.
